The client was a recently founded technology startup. It had developed AI-driven software that summarises the key findings from research papers and reports. The founders had swiftly attracted interest from investors and had agreed to take funding from a large scientific communications business based in Singapore.
WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM AND WHAT DID WE DO?
The investors had produced lengthy documentation. We worked through the detail of this with our clients, focusing on the issues that were important to them to grow their business over the next few years. Challenges included dealing with multiple stakeholders in different time zones and negotiating a balanced agreement to the satisfaction of all parties. Persistence prevailed, and the investment money was received, allowing our clients to start executing a two-year business development plan.
WHAT DID THEY SAY?
Clive went above and beyond our expectations. He was knowledgeable, approachable, responsive, and is very skilful at bringing clarity to complex language. His attention to detail, persistence, and ability to build trust kept the negotiations on track and resulted in a successful outcome that will form the basis of a fruitful partnership with our investor. We very much look forward to working with Clive again in future. – Phil Gooch, CEO and Founder of Scholarcy
