Rezatec is the leading specialist geospatial data analytics company providing valuable and actionable landscape intelligence as a critical decision-support tool to help drive the smart management of land-based assets.
WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM?
When a major new customer of Rezatec was looking to secure access to their mapping and data analysis, they approached us to help grasp the commercial deal and move the customer’s draft agreement into a form with which Rezatec could agree.
WHAT DID WE DO?
We worked within a constrained timescale to negotiate the agreement between Rezatec and their customer. We were required to work with a wide range of options in the draft, proposed by the customer, that was not a close fit to the commercial business model for the particular product being developed by Rezatec. It required us to draw on our intellectual property expertise, whilst considering how much exclusivity the customer had in relation to the data products developed by Rezatec, IP ownership and post-termination access for the customer. The end result was fashioning an agreement that was mutually acceptable to both parties.
WHAT DID THEY SAY?
“We were referred to Piers at ClaydenLaw when our usual lawyers had a conflict. I was very impressed by Piers – he was able to rapidly grasp the commercial deal and move our client’s draft agreement into a form with which we could agree. He negotiated the agreement with the client in a calm and considered way which enabled us to get the deal “over the line” within a shortened timescale. Even our client praised Piers’ professional and pragmatic approach. I would have no hesitation in recommending Piers for commercial IT work.” – Patrick Newton, CEO of Rezatec
